Mendocino County authorities say a machete and a hidden Oxycodone pill were recovered from a Covelo woman arrested over the weekend for threatening a mom and her two kids because of the way their car was parked.
The mother and her children, aged 6 and 9, were inside their car in the parking lot of Keith's Market on Saturday night when someone they didn't know started hitting the window with what was described as a large knife, swearing and complaining about how the vehicle was parked, the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office said.
A short time later, Round Valley Tribal Police reported stopping Janice Hoaglin-Wright, 56, walking several blocks away and removing a machete from her, the sheriff's office said.
She refused to comply with deputies when they arrived but was handcuffed and arrested for suspicion of brandishing a weapon, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance, authorities said.
Hoaglin-Wright was being held at the Mendocino County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail, authorities said.
