A 37-year-old Petaluma man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of sideswiping a vehicle in west Petaluma then driving away, all while drunk, Petaluma police said.

Sgt. Ralph Evans said Keith Michelucci had a blood-alcohol level of 0.25 percent following his arrest, according to a preliminary test.

A driver called police at 5:49 p.m. to report a driver in an adjacent lane on northbound Lakeville Street sideswiped the victim's car and then drove away, Evans said.

The victim, who was unidentified, followed Michelucci and called police on a cellphone. Michelucci drove out of the city and then headed back on southbound Petaluma Boulevard North, Evans said.

Officers pulled Michelucci over near the Petaluma Police Department and Michelucci admitted to the crash, Evans said. Michelucci was on probation for a prior drunken-driving offense, he said.

He was booked into Sonoma County Jail on $25,000 bail.-- Julie Johnson
