Mendocino County Sheriff's deputies are searching for two men suspected of an armed marijuana robbery north of Willits.

The suspects, described as heavily tattooed Hispanic men in their 20s, robbed 66-year-old Gary D. Parsons of six ounces of marijuana outside his home Friday evening, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Parsons was sitting outside a cabin near Highway 101, smoking a marijuana joint, when two men drove up, said Sheriff's Detective Greg Van Patten.

The men asked Parsons whether he had more marijuana. He said he did not but let them smell a baggie of his pot. They grabbed the baggie and a struggle ensued, Van Patten said. One of the suspects pulled a gun and Parsons fled. As he was running away, he said he heard two warning shots fired. A 9 mm casing was found at the scene, Van Patten said.

The victim said the men fled in a silver-colored Ford Mustang. A neighbor reported it was a gold Camaro.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Deputy Joey DeMarco at 459-7833.
