Santa Rosa man with kids in car held, suspected of DUI

<p>An SUV weaving on Highway 101 in Santa Rosa before dawn Sunday was stopped by a CHP officer who found an alleged drunken driver, three adult passengers who had been drinking and three children in the vehicle, the CHP reported Monday.</p><p>Officer Cyril Ruffin arrested driver Gary Sundara, 26, of Santa Rosa on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and child endangerment, said CHP Officer Jon Sloat.</p><p>The three adult passengers and children, ages 1, 4, and 7, were driven home by a friend who was called to retrieve them, said Sloat.</p><p>Sundara was one of 21 people arrested by CHP officers throughout the weekend, suspected of alcohol violations, said Sloat.</p><p>Expired registration tags resulted in driver Shawnee Swank, 35, of Santa Rosa getting stopped Saturday night.</p><p>She was driving on Highway 12, west of Fulton Road at about 7:30 p.m. </p><p>As Officer Michael Ball started to arrest her, she walked away and then fought the officer who had gone after her, said Sloat.</p><p>Her 14-month-old daughter was in the car. The girl was turned over to a relative when Swank was taken to the Sonoma County Jail.</p><p>She was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, resisting an officer and child endangerment.</p>
