An SUV weaving on Highway 101 in Santa Rosa before dawn Sunday was stopped by a CHP officer who found an alleged drunken driver, three adult passengers who had been drinking and three children in the vehicle, the CHP reported Monday.
Officer Cyril Ruffin arrested driver Gary Sundara, 26, of Santa Rosa on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and child endangerment, said CHP Officer Jon Sloat.
The three adult passengers and children, ages 1, 4, and 7, were driven home by a friend who was called to retrieve them, said Sloat.
Sundara was one of 21 people arrested by CHP officers throughout the weekend, suspected of alcohol violations, said Sloat.
Expired registration tags resulted in driver Shawnee Swank, 35, of Santa Rosa getting stopped Saturday night.
She was driving on Highway 12, west of Fulton Road at about 7:30 p.m.
As Officer Michael Ball started to arrest her, she walked away and then fought the officer who had gone after her, said Sloat.
Her 14-month-old daughter was in the car. The girl was turned over to a relative when Swank was taken to the Sonoma County Jail.
She was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, resisting an officer and child endangerment.
