Suspect flees, CHP officer injured after high-speed chase

<p>A high-speed pursuit that began in Cotati late Friday night ended in Novato when the suspect fled and the CHP officer pursuing him fractured his leg. </p><p>Several bags of marijuana were discovered in the Chevrolet truck driven by the suspect, who escaped on foot and remains at large, according to the CHP. </p><p>CHP officers deployed spike strips across the Highway 101 near the Redwood Sanitary Landfill, blowing out the suspect's tires. The driver got off the highway at Delong Avenue, plowed into a street light and then ran into a neighborhood, Sgt. Chris Linehan said. </p><p>The officer, who was not identified, was chasing the suspect in the dark and collided with a barrier, Linehan said.
