Second annual West of West tasting
Up for some coastal sipping? The West of the West Wine Festival is Aug. 3 through 5. It offers wine lovers a taste of coastal pinot noirs, chardonnays and syrahs.
The second-annual WOW Festival is in the coastal hamlet of Occidental. The events includes seminars and a grand tasting. The All-Access Pass is $450.

GEYSERVILLE
Stryker rolls out 4-course dinner in vines
A sumptuous dinner in the vines. Stryker Sonoma's Dinner in the Vineyard on Aug. 4 offers a four-course meal prepared by chef Dan Lucia of D.L. Catering in Healdsburg.
Reservations are required. The event is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. For more information, call 433-1944. The winery is at 5110 Highway 128, Geyserville.
HEALDSBURG
Tendejon dinners at Mateo's Cocina
Mateo Granados has brought back his Tendejon dinners, but this time around the outdoor extravaganzas will be served on the garden patio of his Healdsburg restaurant, Mateo's Cocina Latina.
Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday evenings through the summer, with live music on select nights.
On Wednesdays, the Tendejon will feature Black Sheep Farm Suckling Pig. On Thursdays, Granados will roast Preston Vineyards Tender Lamb. On both nights, he will also offer Yucatan-style Felton Acres Chicken Marinated in Annatto.
Each night's menu will be served with seasonal side dishes and handmade tortillas for $35 a person, including tax and tip. Reservations suggested: 433-1520. 214 Healdsburg Ave.
KENWOOD
Pizza, music, barrel tasting at Deerfield
Muscardini Cellars and Deerfield Ranch Winery will hold a two-day Mercato di Vino, a market for food and wine lovers, from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Deerfield Ranch in Kenwood.
The event includes current release wines paired with appetizers prepared by Olive & Vine and Wood-fired Pizza from Buon Gusto. Music by Jason Bodlovich, barrel tasting and chocolates by Truffles Gateau round out the day.

SANTA ROSA
Don best Hawaiian shirt for luau
Hang 10 at Carol Shelton Wines from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday during a Hawaiian luau featuring kalua pork and short ribs paired with Carol Shelton zins and other wines.
Competitive dressers can enter the Best Hawaiian Shirt contest, and dancers can wobble their lower bodies at the Best Hula Dancer contest.

GUERNEVILLE
Dinner served at Big Bottom Market
Big Bottom Market in Guerneville, which has become a favorite for breakfast and lunch, is now open for dinner on Thursday through Saturday.
The menu served from 5 to 9 p.m. features starters like Wild Arugula Salad with Point Reyes Blue Cheese and Burrata with Arugula Pesto. Entrees include comfort dishes like Green Chile Cheddar Turkey Meatloaf and Pinot Pulled Pork. Prices range from $6 to $19.
For dessert, check out the buttery Biscuit Shortcake, with seasonal fruit, whipped cream and Big Bottom honey.

Girl and Fig features new pickle spices
Are you in the mood for a pickle? Then pick up some Sonoma Valley Sharecropper Pickling Spices, the latest condiment created by The Girl & The Fig.
