SAN FRANCISCO — Oracle Racing's Jimmy Spithill rebounded from capsizing in a fleet race to win the match racing championship in the second stop of the second season of the America's Cup World Series.

Spithill's crew had a terrific start and beat Emirates Team New Zealand, skippered by Dean Barker, by 18 seconds Saturday on San Francisco Bay.

An hour earlier, Spithill's 45-foot catamaran rolled onto its port side during the first fleet race of the day. No one was injured.

Spithill beat Artemis Racing - White, skippered by Terry Hutchinson, in the match racing semifinals while Emirates Team New Zealand beat Artemis Racing - Red, skippered by Olympic gold medalist Nathan Outteridge.

Spithill skippered BMW Oracle Racing to victory in the 2010 America's Cup.

The fleet race finale is Sunday.
