Motorcyclist arrested following Petaluma chase

<p>A 28-year-old motorcyclist was arrested Sunday after he refused to stop for a Petaluma officer and tried to hide, police said.</p><p>The officer tried to pull over Andrew Dale Smith of Fairfield at 12:52 a.m. near Spanish Bay Court and Ely Boulevard South for an equipment violation, Sgt. Ed Crosby said.</p><p>But Smith sped away to Spanish Bay Court, abandoned the bike and hid in a hedge, Crosby said.</p><p>But the officer quickly found and arrested Smith, Crosby said.</p><p>Smith was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of evading police, driving with a suspended license and displaying false evidence of registration, Crosby said.</p>
