Santa Rosa police said they had no new information Sunday about a bicyclist who was seriously hurt Saturday when struck by a vehicle near the Highway 101 off-ramp at Morgan Street in Santa Rosa, police said.

The male victim appeared to have suffered major injuries and was taken to the hospital, Santa Rosa Police Sgt. Phil Brazis said at the scene Saturday.

On Sunday morning, Brazis said the incident was under investigation but that he did not have any additional information, including the victim’s name or condition. He said the case had been turned over to officers in the traffic division, who he said wouldn’t be in until Monday.

It is believed that a vehicle exiting Highway 101 on the off-ramp struck the cyclist, who was eastbound on Third Street at the bottom of the off-ramp, Brazis said.

The accident occurred about 2 p.m.

Police closed eastbound Third Street at Morgan Street and traffic was being diverted.

Three bicycles, two down on the pavement and one with a helmet hanging from the handlebars, were left unattended at the southeast corner of the off-ramp.
