49ers report card for 26-3 loss to Giants:

Quarterbacks: D Whether it was due to a sore middle finger or a series of bad reads, Alex Smith threw 3 interceptions.

Running Backs: B Frank Gore had 8 attempts for 36 yards at halftime — and didn’t get another carry.

Receivers: C Decent games for Mario Manningham (5 catches, 72 yards) and Randy Moss (2 for 75).

Offensive Line: D A week after dominating the Bills, this unit was entirely overmatched by the Giants’ active front four.

Defensive Line: C Justin (Killer) Smith had eight tackles, but where was the pass rush?

Linebackers: C NaVorro Bowman (9) and Patrick Willis (8) combined for 17 tackles, but where was the run defense?

Defensive Backs: D The cornerbacks got picked on, especially Chris Culliver and Tarell Brown.

Special Teams: D Bad kickoff coverage, two missed field goals and a penalty that extended a New York drive.

Coaching/Overall: D This is no way to win the NFC.
