A Clearlake man was arrested early Wednesday morning after he struck his roommate with a hatchet twice and later stabbed him with a knife, Clearlake police said.
Clearlake police were called to a residence on Koloko Street near Kabal Street at 4:24 a.m. after a report of an assault. When police arrived, they found the roommates in the residence.
Police said Ronald Babb, 63, and Richard Kee, 45, were involved in a verbal argument that turned violent. During the argument, Babb allegedly struck Kee twice with a hatchet, inflicting moderate injuries. Police said it was unclear which end of the hatchet Kee was struck with.
Kee left the residence but later came back. The fight continued and Babb then allegedly stabbed Kee in the stomach area, police said.
Police arrested Babb on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He was held at the Lake County Jail on $25,000 bail.
Kee, who was flown to a hospital outside Lake County, is in stable condition, police said.
