SV girls hold their own with big schools

<p>The St. Vincent High School girls basketball team went head-to-head with three much larger schools and more than held its own in the Lady Puma Invitational hosted by Maria Carrillo last weekend. </p><p>St. Vincent's Lady Mustangs won their tournament opening game, defeating Tamalpais, 47-38. St. Vincent jumped out to a 23-2 opening quarter lead and romped from there.</p><p>Uyrsla Baumagarten led the Lady Mustangs with 14 points, with Rebecca Dodele adding 10.</p><p>Host Maria Carrillo, one of the best large-school teams in the Redwood Empire, took care of SV in the second round, winning 49-27.</p><p>Dodele paced St. Vincent with seven points. </p><p>The Lady Mustang lost the game for third place to Arcata, 48-37.</p><p>Jacalyn Murphy led SV with 12 points.</p><p>St. Vincent plays at Kezar Stadium in the Urban Tournament this weekend.</p>
