SV girls hold their own with big schools

The St. Vincent High School girls basketball team went head-to-head with three much larger schools and more than held its own in the Lady Puma Invitational hosted by Maria Carrillo last weekend.
St. Vincent’s Lady Mustangs won their tournament opening game, defeating Tamalpais, 47-38. St. Vincent jumped out to a 23-2 opening quarter lead and romped from there.
Uyrsla Baumagarten led the Lady Mustangs with 14 points, with Rebecca Dodele adding 10.
Host Maria Carrillo, one of the best large-school teams in the Redwood Empire, took care of SV in the second round, winning 49-27.
Dodele paced St. Vincent with seven points.
The Lady Mustang lost the game for third place to Arcata, 48-37.
Jacalyn Murphy led SV with 12 points.
St. Vincent plays at Kezar Stadium in the Urban Tournament this weekend.
