Penngrove dairy fire destroys truck, damages barn

<p>Firefighters worked two small blazes Tuesday morning, one at a Penngrove dairy and one at a home in northern Santa Rosa, reported emergency dispatchers.</p><p>At 6:27 a.m. Rancho Adobe firefighters were called to Davis Lane for a barn and vehicle fire with someone possibly trapped inside.</p><p>Arriving firefighters found a truck engulfed in flames, threatening a nearby barn, said Battalion Chief Steve Davidson.</p><p>The driver was able to get out and wasn't at the scene when firefighters arrived.</p><p>Apparently the truck had been traveling along the feed barn, distributing hay, when the truck caught fire.</p><p>The truck was destroyed and flames scorched one side of the barn.</p><p>Rancho Adobe's nearest fire station, in Penngrove, was closed Tuesday due to budget cuts. District firefighters came from Liberty Road and downtown Cotati.</p><p>An engine from Cotati arrived first at 6:39 a.m., according to dispatch records.</p><p>Several other area departments sent water trucks.</p><p>Davidson said he arrived first, coming from his office in Penngrove.</p><p>The station closure definitely delayed arrival times to the fire, but an earlier engine arrival wouldn't have saved the truck, he said.</p><p>Davidson expressed concern the rotating closures eventually will result in a further damage at a call due to a delayed response.</p><p>Later Tuesday morning fire was reported in the bedroom of a two-story home on Manka Circle, near Wikiup.</p><p>Windsor and Rincon Valley firefighters went to that fire at about 8 a.m. and it was quickly under control and held to the upstairs bedroom.</p>
