Craft Fair Watch: Today from 4 to 7 p.m., Sebastopol Gallery (150 N. Main St.) hosts a trunk sale featuring paintings from Sandy Eastoak and Paula Matzinger; jewelry from Stacy Low and Joann Lustig; pottery from Chris Boyd and weaving from Abby Bard.
Refreshments will be served throughout the sale.
On Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m., Sebastopol's Gypsy Cafe (162 N. Main St.) hosts a special pop-up sale featuring local artists and artisans. You'll find candles, mugs, wine cask tables, unique bicycles, photography, chalkboards, dustpans made of license plates, benches, hand-sewn pillows and more. If you're looking for unique gifts, you will definitely find them here.
Cookies and punch will be served through the fete.
You also have a chance to to try the just-released “Save the Gravenstein” 100 percent Gravenstein hard cider from Apple Sauced Ciders, co-founded by Jolie Devoto Wade of Sebastopol's Devoto Gardens.
On Saturday, the Kehaulani Hula Studio of Santa Rosa will have a booth at the Redwood Empire Farmers Market, located at the Santa Rosa Veterans Building, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Students of the hula school will be selling their handmade Hawaiian crafts, including Christmas stockings, cookie cutters, shell ornaments and more.
An easy way to shop locally: By popular request, the gift shop at Luther Burbank Home and Gardens is staying open for the holiday season, through Saturday, Dec. 22. Hours are Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The gift shop, located inside the Carriage House Museum, has a unique collection of T-shirts, caps, aprons, tea towels, tote bags, umbrellas, books, beautiful prints, posters, cards and more, including a beautiful Shasta Daisy silver pin.

Safari West Toy Drive and Fruit Fest: From now through Dec. 20, Safari West is hosting a toy and food drive to benefit the Sonoma County Food Bank.
Show up any time between noon and 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday with an unwrapped gift or a generous bag of nonperishable groceries and you can walk the grounds, visiting the giraffes, lemurs, cheetahs and the other creatures that don't require a van-ride to visit. This is not a tour, just a self-guided stroll, which is a wonderful way to enjoy this local treasure.
Safari West also welcomes donations of fruit at this time of year, as a special treat for the animals. If you have ripe persimmons, apples, winter squash, pears and similar seasonal fruits, drop them by and enjoy a walk.
The cafe is always open for beverages, sandwiches and snacks.
Reservations are not needed to drop off toys, food or fruits. Just come by 3115 Porter Creek Road in Santa Rosa at the appointed times.
Cannoli for Christmas: If you want Costeaux cannoli for the holiday, don't forget to order some in advance. They will be offered for one day only, Christmas Eve. And although some will be available at the beginning of the day, you can't predict how long they'll last. If you don't want to miss out, call now.
Costeaux cannoli are made with a combination of mascarpone and ricotta cheeses, with candied fruit and chocolate chips folded in. The crisp pastry shells are rolled in sugar and garnished with maraschino cherries.

Downstairs at the Seed Bank: The Petaluma Seed Bank (199 Petaluma Blvd. N.) has opened its new downstairs area in time for Christmas shopping.
The pretty room, with hand-painted murals, features hand-forged English garden tools, books for gardeners and home cooks, garden and nature books for children and locally made foods, perfect for holiday gift baskets.
From now through Christmas Eve, shoppers who spend $60 or more can receive a free copy of “The Baker Creek Vegan Cookbook: Traditional Ways to Cook, Preserve and Eat The Harvest,” written by Jere and Emilee Gettle, founders of Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company. The book sells for $19.99.
For the passionate gardener on your Christmas list, you'll want to browse the enormous selection of heirloom seeds upstairs at the Seed Bank.
Open House at Bear Valley Visitor Center: If you find yourself in west Marin County this evening, you might stop by Point Reyes National Seashore's Bear Valley Visitor Center (1 Bear Valley Road, Point Reyes Station), for the annual holiday open house, which takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. Staff will be on hand to chat with visitors, and you can browse history and wildlife displays, visit the bookstore for gifts and explore just why this is such a special place. Refreshments will be served.
While you're there, you can sign up a favorite kid for the third annual Point Reyes Christmas Bird Count for Kids, taking place on Jan. 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Clem Miller Environmental Education Center. The count is open to budding birders, ages 3 to 6, and young birders, ages 7 to 18. The event is free but pre-registration is required. There will be special age-appropriate activities for kids, all of whom must be accompanied by an adult.
Space is limited and spots are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Santa comes to Nick's Cove: On Sunday, Santa Claus returns to the Boat Shack at Nick's Cove (23240 Highway 1, Marshall). He'll tie up at the dock at about 3 p.m. and remain until 5 p.m.
There will be free hot apple cider and cookies and an opportunity for photographs with Santa.
If you bring canned food to donate to Nick's Cove's second annual Santa Food Drive, which benefits the Marin Food Bank, you'll receive 15 percent off lunch or dinner.

If Nick's Cove seems far away to you, it's not. Located just three miles south of the hamlet of Tomales, it takes about 25 minutes to get there from Petaluma and about 30 minutes from Sebastopol. And the drive at this time of year is gorgeous.
Nick's Cove has been under new ownership since the summer of 2011 and both service and food are top-notch.
