Kayaker headed to Hawaii rescued off North Coast

<p>The rescue crew of the Bodega Bay Coast Guard was kept busy on Christmas night, when an emergency signal rang out west of Salmon Creek Beach.</p><p>It was a kayaker, who planned to paddle his 21-foot vessel all the way to Hawaii. He made it about 15 nautical miles.</p><p>"He left from Bodega Bay, and he was planning on kayaking to Hawaii," said Matthew Foussadier, boatswain mate third class. "He said his vessel was taking on water."</p><p>The call came in at 6:45 p.m. A helicopter flew to the scene from San Francisco, and a motor lifeboat was dispatched from Bodega Bay to rescue the ambitious boater.
