Sonoma man accepts plea deal in Novato burglaries

A Sonoma man with a lengthy criminal history in the North Bay accepted a plea deal Thursday for a 17-year prison sentence.
Jason Christopher Knight, 34, was linked to about 15 residential burglaries in Novato earlier this year, police said. Novato police obtained a $525,000 warrant for his arrest, and he was caught in Placer County while fleeing a residential burglary in Rocklin.
Under the plea deal, Knight admitted to one burglary charge and a prior strike conviction against the state's three-strikes law.
He could face 25 years to life if convicted of another felony, Marin County Deputy District Attorney Geoff Iida said.
Knight already had been sentenced to more than 10 years for cases in Placer and Sonoma counties. The 17-year sentence he accepted Thursday includes those sentences plus the Novato case, Iida said.
Knight's criminal history includes burglary and drug convictions in Napa and Sonoma counties.
