Shots were fired early Saturday during a home-invasion robbery in the Mark West Springs Road area, a Sonoma County sheriff's spokesman said.
The incident was reported at 2:40 a.m. by the occupant, who had locked himself in a room and called 911, Lt. Tim Duke said.
As many as four men ransacked the house, stealing marijuana or money, Duke said.
They fled in a car that was spotted by a neighbor who followed it, Duke said.
The neighbor broke off the pursuit when the car stopped and fired at the neighbor, Duke said.
Arriving deputies heard the shots but could not find the car because of an insufficient vehicle description, Duke said.
