Lake County man airlifted with major injuries after Highway 29 crash

<p>A Lake County man suffered major injuries in a car crash near Calistoga that closed Highway 29 for about an hour Tuesday evening, the CHP said.</p><p>A driver traveling north on Highway 29 north of Palisades Road lost control of his pickup truck while crossing a bridge, CHP Officer Jake Ramos said.</p><p>The truck driven by Matthew Hollibaugh, 24, of Middletown, clipped the side of the bridge, then veered off the road, crossed a creek and crashed into a stone pillar of a gate to a nearby home.</p><p>Hollibaugh was trapped in the truck and was removed by Cal Fire crews, Ramos said. He was flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries.</p><p>"He's lucky to be alive," Ramos said.</p>
