A worker for the American Red Cross for nearly 40 years, Eva Marie Gold never took a vacation during her working years.
She spent her retirement years making up for it — traveling around the world on ocean cruises.
A Petaluma resident, Mrs. Gold died January 12, 2013 at age 96.
Mrs. Gold was born on an Indian Reservation in Boyle, Alberta, Canada. In 1936, she married Sol Gold who predeceased her in 1943 during World War II. She never remarried.
She went to work at the American Red Cross in 1942 and completed a career with them in Disaster Service for almost 40 years.
A long time resident of San Francisco, she moved to Petaluma in the 1980s.
She was a member of the Petaluma Woman's Club, the Petaluma Museum Association, the Petaluma Garden Club, and the “Scarlet Angels” (Red Hatters).
She is survived by her son, Ted Gold of Carmel; grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and her sister Rosebelle Gold of San Francisco. She was predeceased by her brothers, Maury, Harry, and Roy Sankey.
Services will be private. Donations in her name may be made to Hospice of Petaluma, 416 Payran St., Petaluma 94952 or the American Red Cross, Sonoma County Chapter, 5297 Aero Drive, Santa Rosa 95403-8070.
