Roger and Becky Wiese

<p>Roger and Becky (Rebert) Wiese celebrated their 50th anniversary on Thanksgiving week with family members, who all participated in a getaway to the mountains in Lake Tahoe at Incline Village. The high point of the week took place on the last night of the vacation when there was a renewal of wedding vows and a slide show presentation of their years together. The vows, which were written by their children and grandchildren, were a good-natured roast that brought much laughter and joy to the whole family.</p><p>The couple met at church in Hollywood. On their first date, they saw “West Side Story” at Grauman's Chinese Theater. Roger served in the Army Intelligence from 1961-1964, stationed in Washington, D.C. Although they dated for a year and a half, they actually only had five official dates. Nonetheless, their relationship blossomed because they corresponded by letter. They were married at the Church of Religious Science in Hollywood on Nov. 17, 1962.</p><p>Roger earned a B.S. in finance from Cal State University, Los Angeles and worked as a banker with Wells Fargo in Los Angeles and San Francisco; he also was a law firm administrator in San Francisco and Santa Rosa. Currently, he still does part-time accounting work for Michael's Harley-Davidson. Becky was a homemaker.</p><p>Currently, one of their favorite things to do is spend time with their grandchildren. They have enjoyed doing volunteer work over the years, including at the Rohnert Park Education Foundation, PTA, and Roger was a softball coach for his daughter's team. In addition, they have been active at the Rohnert Park animal shelter.</p><p>They have taken trips to Canada and Hawaii; cruised to Alaska; and traveled throughout the U.S. with their family.</p><p>Family members include: daughter, Kimberly Kern, and her husband, Rob, of Windsor; daughter, Karen Caldwell, and her husband, Oliver, of St. Helena; and daughter, Erica Stefan, and her husband, Derek, of Santa Rosa. They have four grandchildren.</p><p>Their advice for a long and happy marriage is to have a sense of humor, keep focused on the family, have respect for your partner's opinions, and no grudge-holding.</p>
