The chief of police of the Round Valley Indian Tribe in Covelo was arrested last week on suspicion of domestic violence.
Carlos Rabano, 41, was taken to Mendocino County Jail last week and booked on charges of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse. He spent the night in jail and was later released after posting $50,000 bail.
The arrest followed an anonymous tip on Jan. 11 that Rabano and his wife were involved in a dispute at their Covelo home two days earlier. During the Jan. 9 argument, Rabano allegedly kicked his wife in the shin several times and grabbed her by the hair when she tried to leave with the couple's 10-year-old son, according to Mendocino County sheriff's investigators.
The woman did not require any medical attention, according to the Sheriff's Office.
After an investigation, deputies went to Rabano's home in Covelo and arrested him without incident, according to the Sheriff's Office.
