Big win for Casa girls

Casa Grande High School's Lady Gauchos shocked the Redwood Empire's top-ranked girls team Wednesday night, handing Santa Rosa's Lady Panthers THEIR first North Bay League loss, 66-41.

SUMNER FOWLER/FOR THE ARGUS-COURIERThe Lady Gauchos started one of their best offensive productions of the season with 20 points in the opening quarter for a 20-11 first period lead. By halftime, Casa Grande was on top 36-22, and Casa's biggest win of the season was pretty well determined.
Brooke Santander kept up her surge of high scoring ways, leading Casa Grande with 19 points. Allie Fausone had her best offensive game of the season with 10 points.
Dayna Dolcini was the leader of Casa Grande's tenacious defense with 10 rebounds and five steals.
Many contributed to the Casa Grande win, with seven different players hitting 3-point shots. As a team, the Lady Gauchos hit 13 shots from beyond the arc.
Devin Murray led Santa Rosa with 15 points.
Casa Grande is now 4-2 in NBL play and 10-8 overall with another big game coming up Friday night at Montgomery. Santa Rosa is 5-1 in league play and 13-4 overall.
