Grades for the 49ers' 28-24 win against the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Championship game:

Quarterbacks: A Colin Kaepernick didn’t run all over the Falcons. This week he did it with passing (127.7 rating) and poise.

Running Backs: A Frank Gore ran for 90 yards on 21 carries and LaMichael James looked nimble in relief.

Receivers: B Big game for TE Vernon Davis (5 catches, 106 yards). Huge fumble by Michael Crabtree.

Offensive Line: B Besides a few noise-related problems, an outstanding day for the line.

Defensive Line: B Not a great pass-rushing push, but the D-line was stout against the run.

Linebackers: A All four starters made big plays — none bigger than late pass breakups by Ahmad Brooks and NaVorro Bowman.

Defensive Backs: D The 49ers’ corners fought hard, but were overmatched by Atlanta’s deadly receiving trio.

Special Teams: C The good: a key punt return by Ted Ginn. The bad: David Akers still can’t make a field goal.

Coaching/Overall: A Down 17 points in a hostile environment, the 49ers added a postseason win to remember.
