A wrecked motorcycle and an SUV were under inspection Monday by the CHP as part of its investigation into a fatal crash Sunday afternoon on Valley Ford Road near Bloomfield.
Michael Kolb, 48, of Novato, who was driving the motorcycle, died at the scene.
He and his wife, Martha, 51, were riding on the rural west county road at about 3:20 p.m. when their 2008 Harley and an SUV collided, the CHP said.
The CHP said Cynthia Callahan, 77, was pulling onto Valley Ford Road from her driveway near Carmody Road in her Nissan Rogue SUV when she turned left into the motorcyclists' path.
Martha Kolb, the motorcycle's passenger, was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital where she remained in critical condition Monday.
Callahan complained of pain but was not taken to a hospital, the CHP said.
CHP Sgt. John Evans said because of the death, the investigation will be extensive before determining whether any charges should be sought.
Alcohol was not considered a factor in the collision.
