Woman suspected of passing fake checks in Sonoma, elsewhere

<p>A Vallejo woman, suspected of using fake checks to purchase hundreds of dollars in gift cards at a Sonoma grocery store, also is being investigated by other North Bay law agencies for similar activities, Sonoma police reported Wednesday.</p><p>Sonoma officers arrested Saundra Djafarzadeh, 38, on suspicion of commercial burglary and check fraud.</p><p>They searched her home Tuesday and found color printers with reams of blank-check stock and check-making documents and programs, said Sonoma Police Sgt. Dave Thompson.</p><p>Officers also reported finding several fake checks, more than 30 gift cards worth over $1,000 and California identification cards with other's names.</p><p>“It was a regular check-writing, check-making operation going on,” said Thompson.</p><p>The woman, who also uses the name Parnian Clark, became a suspect after Safeway officials in Sonoma reported a woman had used four fake checks to buy numerous gift cards in the last month.</p><p>That investigation led officers to Novato police, who were looking at similar crimes. The woman was on probation in Marin County for similar cases and is under investigation by other North Bay law agencies, Thompson said.</p><p>Djafarzadeh was booked into the Sonoma County Jail and released after posting bail.</p>
