Petaluma police investigating a report of a suspicious man outside of an eastside apartment during the night found he had a dagger and stolen property, reported police on Monday.
Officers arrested David L. Mairs, 50, of Seaside on suspicion of possessing a concealed dagger, drug paraphernalia and stolen property, forgery and possessing identification with the intent to defraud, reported Petaluma Lt. Tim Lyons.
Officers went to the Casa Grande Road apartment at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday and found Mairs sitting outside.
An investigation turned up the five-inch fixed blade in his pocket, and a stack of gift cards and other items officers traced back to car burglaries last fall in the Bay Area, Lyons said.
Mairs was taken to the Sonoma County Jail. He remained in custody Monday in lieu of $10,000 bail.
