A Sunnyvale woman was flown Sunday to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital after crashing on an all-terrain vehicle near the remote community of Annapolis, the CHP said.

Passenger Janice Stevens, 50 and driver Ian Stevens, 42, of Sunnyvale crashed down a 50-foot hill at about noon Sunday about three miles north of Kelly Road and Oak Hill L O Road, CHP officials said.

The pair crashed near the Oak Ridge repeater tower and called former Annapolis Fire Chief Artie Bell, Cal Fire Engineer Robin Noel said. Bell helped direct fire crews to the remote location, about 10 miles north of Annapolis Road in rugged terrain, Noel said.

Cal Fire crews used a rope system to pull the pair up onto higher ground. The Sonoma County Sheriff's helicopter Henry-1 crew flew Janice Stevens to a clearing to a waiting REACH medical helicopter that then flew her to Memorial.

Ian Stevens was reportedly uninjured.
