An 82-year-old man was killed Monday in a two-car crash outside the city of Sonoma, CHP officials said.
The Sonoma man, who wasn't identified late Monday, was turning from Burndale Road onto Napa Road in a 1990 Toyota Camry at about 11:45 a.m., Officer Peter Van Eckhardt said.
The Toyota entered the path of an oncoming Volvo SUV. The Volvo struck the Toyota's driver's-side door, Van Eckhardt said.
Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene, Van Eckhardt said. The Sonoma County coroner's office was called at 12:20 p.m.
Several people in the Volvo complained of some pain but were otherwise uninjured, he said.
Traffic was reduced to one lane as investigators closed the westbound lane of Napa Road.
The Volvo driver also wasn't identified as of late Monday.
