Santa Rosa woman, 89, seriously injured in Highway 101 crash

<p>An 89-year-old Santa Rosa woman was seriously injured Wednesday in a multi-car crash on Highway 101 believed to have been caused by a tailgating driver, the CHP said.</p><p>Barbara Fredell was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major upper body injuries suffered in a 2:10 p.m. crash on southbound Highway 101 at Hearn Avenue, the CHP said.</p><p>She reportedly was in serious condition Thursday at the hospital, a nursing supervisor said.</p><p>Fredell was a passenger in a 2003 Lexus sedan driven by Erling Fredell, 94, when the crash occurred, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.</p><p>Preliminary indications are that the crash was caused by the driver of a Honda CRV traveling behind them and driven by Patti Koepf, 54, of Sebastopol, authorities said.</p><p>A third car was involved, but no one else was injured, Sloat said.</p><p>Additional details were not available.</p>
