A blown transformer was blamed for a widespread power outage at Santa Rosa Junior College Friday afternoon, authorities said.
People initially reported hearing a loud explosion or what they thought were gunshots at about 12:30 p.m., campus police dispatcher Monica Chavez said.
Power was out in several buildings on campus as a result of the blown transformer in the 400 block of Elliot Avenue.
Authorities used Nixle to update students and staff.
The power was restored at about 1:30 p.m., Chavez said.
