A report of domestic violence Monday morning led Fort Bragg police officers to a Super 8 Motel, where they found two people locked in a heated argument and garbage bags full of marijuana, police said.

Police were called to the Super 8 Motel at 888 S. Main Street at 6:20 a.m. When they arrived they found a woman who was upset and yelling at a man.

Police spoke with the woman just outside a motel room when they noticed the strong scent of marijuana coming from inside the room.

Police noticed inside the room were packaging material and large garbage bags. Police obtained a search warrant and then searched the room.

Inside the room, police said they found 16 pounds of marijuana that they suspected was being packaged and readied for sale.

Police arrested Alexander Martin Kattau, 27, and Nicole Patrice Rudrud, 32, both of Port Angeles, Washington on suspicion of possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with the intent to sell.

Both suspects have been transported to Mendocino County Jail.
