A power outage in Rohnert Park shut down traffic signals at several key intersections near local schools on Thursday morning.
Public safety personnel were reminding motorists to treat each intersection like a four-way stop.
The power went out at about 6:36 a.m., affecting nearly 1,600 customers roughly between Golf Course Drive and Southwest Boulevard, a PG&E spokeswoman said.
Signals in the Snyder Lane/Rohnert Park Expressway area were among those affected, interfering with traffic around Lawrence E. Jones Middle School and near Rancho Cotati High School to the south, public safety personnel said.
Residents in the city's “E Section” also were affected.
PG&E spokeswoman Jana Morris said customers could expect to be without power until about noon.
A smaller power outage in Santa Rosa cut power to about 47 customers in the Skyhawk subdivision east of Calistoga Road. A power line reportedly was down in the Great Heron Drive area, Morris said.
