Michael “Zoomer” Zenone had such a lively sense of humor that friends dubbed it “Zoomer's Humor.” Mr. Zenone, whose humor was just one indication of his love of life, died at his home on Feb. 5 after battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis since 2010.

He was 63 and died with his wife, Carol Keating, at his side.
“We would have been married for 25 blissful years in October,” Keating said, describing Mr. Zenone as “a wonderful man” who was still sending out jokes and communications to friends just three days before his passing.
“When you met him, you felt you'd known him a lifetime,” she said, a sentiment echoed by his friends.
“Zoomer was just a wonderful person; he had a heart of gold,” said Mark Albertson, who got to know Mr. Zenone in the early 2000s, when they worked together on advisory committee to find solutions for Petaluma's delapidated roads. “He was very active, very interested serving the community in any way he could.”
In addition to community involvement, Mr. Zenone was very proud of his more than 26-year career with the U.S. Coast Guard. After retiring, he worked at V. Dolan trucking until he became ill. In addition, he was an avid sports fan, deep sea fisher, music lover who was very moved by the saxophone his wife gave him for his 50th birthday, and a committed cook who often had friends over for dinner.
A “celebration of life” will be held on Saturday, March 9 at 1 p.m. at the Petaluma Veterans Memorial Building, 1094 Petaluma Blvd. South. Attendees are asked to bring stories and pictures to share.
