Witness stops would be hit-and-run driver in Petaluma

A witness to a would-be hit-and-run car crash in Petaluma Tuesday night helped police by stopping the suspect driver.
Petaluma Sgt. Ed Crosby reported a car crashed into a parked car at Baker and Stanley streets at about 10:15 p.m.
The driver tried to run but was detained by a witness, said Crosby.
Officers arrested driver kevin Francis Ipploito, 27, of Novato on suspicion of drunken driving.
He was taken to the Sonoma County Jail.
