Nervous motorists reported a dog running along the shoulder and in and out of traffic on northbound Highway 101 in south Santa Rosa and Rohnert Park for more than 30 minutes on Friday morning.
A dog — believed to be the same one — was later reported in the southbound lanes just north of Cotati, the CHP said.
First reports of a black or black-and-tan dog came in about 7:45 a.m. from the area of the on-ramp to northbound Santa Rosa Avenue and continued minutes later in the area of Golf Course Drive and Rohnert Park Expressway.
By 8:24, the dog was on the highway's southbound side about a quarter mile north of Highway 116 in Cotati, the CHP said.
It was unclear if a non-injury vehicle crash at north Golf Course Drive in the midst of numerous reports being called might have been related.
