Supervisor Susan Gorin is set to make her first set of appointments to a number of advisory boards and commissions for Sonoma County government.
She is appointing Bob Higham, a former private school owner and operator, to a coveted post on the county fair board.
Supervisors each appoint three fair board members and Higham, 77, is Gorin’s first appointment.
He grew up on ranches in south-central Montana and operated the Higham Family School, serving grades K-3, with his wife Nancy off Brush Creek Road in Santa Rosa from 1979 to 2001.
Gorin is reappointing two planning commissioners who served her predecessor, Valerie Brown. They are Dick Fogg and Greg Carr.
She is also set to reappoint Marshall Bauer and Wendy Peterson to the county’s Tourism Board.
The appointments are scheduled to come before the full Board of Supervisors for approval on April 23.
