Fire ripped through a Bodega home Saturday morning, largely destroying the single-family house but causing no injuries.

A man, the lone occupant, was able to escape the blaze before flames spread, engulfing the entire house in the 600 block of Salmon Creek Road, said Josh Perucchi, a Bodega Bay firefighter.

The fire was reported about 7:30 a.m. About 20 firefighters from six local departments responded.

They were able to contain and extinguish the fire within about an hour, Perucchi said.

The fire’s cause was unknown and will be investigated by the Sonoma County Fire and Emergency Services Department. Perucchi said it was not considered suspicious.

In addition to the county fire and Bodega Bay departments, firefighters responded from Bodega, Valley Ford, Goldridge, and Occidental.
