SR street repairs
EDITOR: I find it hard to believe that the current plan for street maintenance in Santa Rosa makes financial sense (“Pavement priorities,” July 24). There are things that can be done short of total replacement and beyond slurry seals.
Most of the streets in the Montgomery Village neighborhood need maintenance. It seems to me that an asphalt overlay would extend their useful life many years. The thought of letting them be destroyed by lack of normal maintenance is unthinkable.
I understand that there is not enough money to do all that is needed. But it sounds as if Clay Thistle, from the city's public works department, has given up. Show me financial justification for the current approach. If we need an oversight committee, I'd be happy to serve.
