Woman arrested on suspicion of DUI in Petaluma crash that toppled power pole

A 24-year-old Petaluma woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI Friday afternoon after the vehicle she was driving veered off the road and struck a power pole.

The collision snapped the wooden pole, downing it and live wires in the the east- and westbound lanes of Skillman Lane, east of Liberty Road, according to the CHP.

The driver, Christin Kahn, exited the 2012 Chrysler and was seen walking “in and about the live wires without injury,” the CHP reported. She fled the scene on foot and was later detained on suspicion of DUI.

The crash was reported at 12:39 p.m. on a straight stretch of Skillman Lane, west of Petaluma.

No other vehicles were involved and Kahn was the sole occupant in her car, the CHP said. No injuries were reported.
