A late night marijuana deal off a west Santa Rosa street turned violent when one side pulled out guns and robbed the other side, Santa Rosa police said Wednesday.
The victims called 911 for help Monday night and police arrested three suspects — two of them known gang members — on Tuesday, said Santa Rosa gang Sgt. Eric Goldschlag.
The two sides had met near a small commercial center at West Third Street and Fulton Road. By 11:45 p.m., a 911 caller reported an armed robbery and described the suspects’ car.
Within minutes, a Sonoma County sheriff’s deputy spotted a possible match on Highway 101 in Santa Rosa.
Law enforcement officers stopped the vehicle and discovered two men and 10 pounds of processed marijuana inside, said Goldschlag.
The victims identified the two men in the car. Further investigation led to a third suspect.
Detectives Tuesday arrested David Andrew Martinez, 32, and Bradley Alan Bartholdy, 27, both of Santa Rosa, and transient Ruben Quiroz, 27. They were taken into custody on several felony counts including suspicion of robbery, possessing marijuana for sale and gang enhancements, said Goldschlag.
Martinez and Quiroz are known to police as street gang members, he said.
The trio was booked into the Sonoma County Jail and bail for each was set at $100,000.
By Wednesday, Martinez and Quiroz had each posted bail and were released. Bartholdy remained in custody.
No other suspects were believed to be involved, Goldschlag said. He asked anyone with information to contact Detective Andrew Riley at (707) 543-3590.
