Viticulture briefs

The Sangiacomo family will be honored for its lifetime contributions to the Sonoma County wine industry by the 2013 Harvest Fair.

The family farms 1,600 acres of vineyards in the Carneros, Sonoma Valley and Sonoma Coast regions. There are 76 producers that buy fruit from the family, bottling 33 vineyard-designated wines.

“Like our previous generations, we feel it is best not to chase the market, but to work with the grape varieties which have proved themselves when planted at the appropriate sites,” Steve Sangiacomo, a third-generation partner in Sangiacomo Vineyards, said in a statement. “We are so proud to be winegrowers in Sonoma County.”
