Kick Up Your Heels, Zydeco Style: On Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Ives Park (7400 Willow St., Sebastopol) will be lively with Zydeco music and Cajun food at the 18th annual Sebastopol Cajun-Zydeco Festival. If you're worried about the hot weather, don't: There will be a large shaded wooden dance floor.
If you're a fan of the cuisine, you'll be thrilled by beignets, oyster shooters, crawfish, gator sausage, gumbo, etouffee, barbecue and more, with watermelon, shaved ice, beer, wine, margaritas, hurricanes and ice cream to keep you cool and refreshed.
Dwight Carrier and Ro Dogg kick off the music at 11:30 a.m., with Jimmy Breaux and his band taking the stage at 1:30 p.m.. At 3:10 p.m., it's Curly Taylor and Zydeco Trouble, with Sunpie Barnes and the Louisiana Sunspots wrapping things up at 5 p.m.
As of publication time, plenty of tickets remained and will be sold at the gate the day of the event.
Cost is $25 per person; children under 12 are free. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
Please note that you may not bring in food or beverages and only service animals are permitted.
If you can't make it to Saturday's festival, you can savor a taste Friday night from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Wine Emporium (125 N. Main St., Sebastopol). There will be Cajun nibbles, wines and a jam session with some of the festival musicians. This fete is 21-and-over only.
Heirloom Expo: Don't forget the third annual National Heirloom Festival, taking place next Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 10, 11 and 13 at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds (1350 Bennett Valley Road, Santa Rosa). The festival features thousands of heirloom varieties of produce, heritage breed livestock, 300 food vendors, 100 speakers, live music and more. Admission at the door is $10 a day or $25 for a three-day pass. If you're 17 or under, you get in free.

Horses, Pigs and Pinot: On Sunday, Sept. 15, from 3 to 6 p.m. Iron Horse Vineyards hosts a Pig Roast and Pinot Release Party, featuring a whole roasted pig, vegetables from the winery's gorgeous gardens and three 2011 single-vineyard pinot noirs. It's a safe bet that there may be some yummy sparkling wines, too.
