Pot vs. wine
EDITOR: The Press Democrat's anti-pot campaign crested Oct. 6 with an above-the-fold front-page story (“North Coast marijuana trade's deadly toll”) while the Oct. 7 paper lavished color photos on the alcohol-centered Harvest Fair (“A stompin' good time,”). Could it be that one drug is favored by the county's 1 percent aristocrats and the other is used (and grown) by those at the other end of the social and economic scale?
How about a front-page story on alcohol-related traffic deaths, domestic violence and burnt-out winos living under bridges, with an emphasis on wine's glamorization?
I'm sorry that The Press Democrat is now owned by local rich people who seem to think we weren't getting enough murder and mayhem coverage.
