Fire destroys Cloverdale garage

A detached, two-car garage burned to the ground Wednesday evening northeast of Cloverdale.

The fire at a home in the 33000 block of Pine Mountain Road remains under investigation, said Cloverdale Fire Battalion Chief Rick Blackmon.

It was reported about 5:50 p.m. by an off-duty Cal Fire official who was traveling on Highway 101 when he saw a big column of smoke on the eastern hillside.

Firefighters from Cloverdale Fire and Cal Fire battled the fire.

No one was home at the time of the blaze, Blackmon said.
