Woman killed in Highway 29 crash identified

A woman killed in a Napa County car crash was identified as a St. Helena resident, a Napa County sheriff’s captain said Tuesday.

The victim was Gabriela Gomez, 30, said sheriff’s Capt. Leroy Anderson.

Gomez was a passenger in a car driven by a suspected drunken driver. The CHP arrested Bobby Recinos, 21, of Lower Lake after Saturday’s pre-dawn crash, on suspicion of drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter.

Recinos was headed south on Highway 29, south of Calistoga near Tucker Road just before 4 a.m. when he lost control of his 2006 Dodge Charger, according to the CHP.

The Charger ran off the roadway and hit a tree.

Gomez, sitting in the front passenger seat, wasn’t wearing a seat belt. She died in the crash.

The driver and two other passengers were taken to hospitals with a range of injuries.
