A Fort Bragg man was arrested early Wednesday on suspicion of committing a string of vehicle burglaries.
Cheshire Maiava, 27, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property and vandalism after Fort Bragg police identified Maiava as a suspect in burglaries that have struck multiple vehicle owners throughout December.
Tipped to Maiava’s presence downtown Wednesday morning, officers found the subject walking on Stewart Street. Maiava was carrying burglary tools, pepper spray, a controlled substance and a police scanner. Maiava, a convicted felon, was also charged with being a felon in possession of a weapon, controlled substance and burglary tools.
Maiava was booked into the Mendocino County Adult Detention Facility in Ukiah.
