Get your fill at this crab feed: Start 2014 off with a crab feast at 6 p.m. Friday at the Rohnert Park Community Center.
The feed, sponsored by the Rohnert Park Chamber of Commerce, includes a hot prawn appetizer, all-you-can-eat crab, pasta, salad and bread.
Appetizers will be served from 5 to 5:45 p.m. There will be a no-host bar of beer and wine, and a $5 corkage fee.

Bartenders vie for martini honors: Kick off the Olive Season in the Sonoma Valley with a good, strong martini.
From 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, bartenders from all over the valley will shake it up during the Martini Madness competition at MacArthur Place Hotel & Spa.

Tailgater recipe won BCS tickets: Laurie Figone of Petaluma has won the inaugural “Cook-off Before Kick-off” Tailgating Recipe Contest with her recipe for San Francisco 49er Surf & Turf.
The winning dish — a crab and steak sandwich on sourdough bread — won her a trip to the BCS National Championship football game held Monday at Pasadena's Rose Bowl Stadium.

Wine Road holds Winter WINEland: Wine lovers won't want to miss out on Winter WINEland, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 18-19. This is the 22nd annual event and a great opportunity to taste limited-release wines, new releases and library wines, as well as meet the winemakers who work their magic in each bottle. There are about 130 participating wineries in northern Sonoma County. Some will offer food pairings while others will offer tours, but all will have something on sale.
