EDITOR: If my math is correct, 0.0002 percent of Sonoma County's population attended the Andy Lopez task force meeting (“Lopez activists say they're harassed,” Tuesday). Yet The Press Democrat allocated a front-page article to the meeting. Two teenage girls, age 13 and 15, were described as believing they have been profiled (my term). What's going on? How can such a small number of disgruntled individuals deserve front-page coverage?
I would like to conduct a countywide survey to determine how many people are supporting these angry, agenda-driven individuals. I would venture that the majority of residents feel the issue is attracting way too much coverage.
I know one of the individuals cited in the article and, in my opinion, he is a fair and just person. Is he on the wrong side of this issue? I bet the individuals who are repeatedly cited in the article would say he is.
Let the justice system conduct its investigation and accept that it will be fair and thorough considering the enormity of this situation. I'm pretty certain that, no matter the final outcome, the 0.0002 percent who continually protest over the Andy Lopez situation will never feel justice is served because, in their myopic view, law enforcement is always considered the enemy.
