Quilts on display at Rincon Valley library

A quilted fiber arts exhibit featuring works of The Pointless Sisters, a group of local quilt artists, is on display through Feb. 22 at the Rincon Valley Regional Library in Santa Rosa.

The exhibit includes a collaborative quilt on the Laguna Watershed as well as a collection of works, each inspired by a particular artists.

The Pointless Sisters are a subgroup of the Santa Rosa Quilt Guild dedicated to elevating quilting to a fine art. The library is located at 6959 Montecito Blvd.

SANTA ROSA

Afternoon's events help prep for planting season: The annual Sonoma County Community Garden Summit on Feb. 8 in Santa Rosa will help people gear up for the growing season.

The afternoon event will include:

- A presentation about two local community gardens

- Workshops on cooking from the cool season garden, creating gardens for all ages, resources and fundraising, and pest and disease management

- The chance to meet and learn from other community gardens from around the county

- An update on CGNSC's services and how to get involved

- A seed swap — bring yours and trade for seed from other people's gardens

- Information tables by a variety of local organizations

A tour before the summit from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. of the Community Garden at Bayer Farm, 1550 West Ave., across from Sheppard Elementary School.

The summit will run from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Roseland Elementary School, 1777 West Ave., in Santa Rosa.
