Suspect sought in Oakland carjacking, kidnapping

OAKLAND — Authorities warned the public on Tuesday to stay away from a carjacked vehicle that was being driven by one victim and carrying a teenage girl.

Oakland police said the carjacking occurred outside a grocery store.

Witnesses said a suspect with a knife forced the occupant — an older man— to drive away with the teenager in the rear seat.

"We don't want anyone approaching this vehicle," Oakland police spokeswoman Johnna Watson told KTVU-TV at the scene. "We have information that the suspect is armed with a knife."

Watson said the girl was believed to be 13. An Amber Alert was issued.

Police asked people to be on the lookout for a red 2001 Infiniti sport-utility vehicle with the California license plate 6JFM648.

If seen or located, contact the Oakland Police Dept. at (510) 238-3641.
